Diagnostic medical sonographers specialize in creating images of the body’s organs and tissues. Diagnostic medical sonographers, Vascular Technologists also called diagnostic imaging workers, operate special imaging equipment to create images or conduct tests. The images and test results help physicians assess and diagnose medical conditions. General Learning Concentration specializes in imaging a patient’s Abdominal, Obstetrical Gynecological, General Vascular and Cardiac system. Theory content and laboratory experience focuses on ultrasound studies in the General Learning concentration. Upon satisfactory completion of the AMSC College students receive a Bachelor of Health Sciences in Diagnostic Medical Sonography. Students with this degree as advanced sonographers are frequently employed as supervisors, directors, managers, educators, and researchers.
The program provides the didactic and the clinical skills necessary in order to enable the student to perform the Sonographic requirements published or supported by nationally-recognized professional ARDMS, ARRT, CCI organizations.
